Levenmouth » Wemyss Coastal Trail » Point 1
Welcome to East Wemyss, a charming village which is steeped in history, with its roots dating back to ancient times.
The village was an important coal mining hub, contributing to the local economy and providing employment for many residents. The coal from this region was of high quality and was shipped across Scotland and exported internationally.
Behind you is a lovely park; have a quick look before we move on. There’s also the award-winning Perfect Scoop Ice Cream shop.
We’ll head through the little gate opening on the East side of the park
Award-winning ice cream. You deserve this, and you'll need the energy for all the walking we will be doing!
The Wemyss family has been influential in the region for centuries. Their ancestral home, Wemyss Castle, is a notable landmark in the area. The family not only developed the coal mining industry but also contributed to local architecture and the preservation of historical sites.
