This opening here was home to Hercules, a famous grizzly bear known for his gentle nature and film appearances. Born in captivity in 1975, he was raised by Scottish couple Andy and Maggie Robin. Trained for TV and film, he starred in ads and movies, including Octopussy. In 1980, he escaped on Benbecula, surviving 24 days before being found. His friendly demeanor made him a beloved public figure. He spent summers here in Letham Glen wrestling and performing for residents and visitors to the area.
