About Point 12

This beautiful building used to be the Cardy Net Factory itself, which was built around 1867 and enlarged a few years later. It employed 60 women who worked the looms. Many were from Leven and Buckhaven, walking the 3-5 miles to work every day. Unfortunately for David Gillies there was a downturn in the fishing industry and the net factory all but closed in 1886.

The Net Factory is now a holiday rental with stunning views from the south facing window.
