Cardy House, a Victorian Villa at the east end of the Main Street, was built in 1871 for David Gillies following the success of his net factory. If you detour along the vennel you get a good view of the house. There is a stone slab partway along which marks where a passageway goes underground from the garden of the Net Factory to the house. Also try to spot the statue of Atlas holding up the world above the front door.
