About Point 14

Go back along Bowling Green Road towards the Town Hall and turn left into Betson Street. Walk along until you find a large white building, what is it called? This is your 14th answer.

This building used to be called the Markinch Institute and it was presented in the 1920s by Tullis Russell paper makers as a library and recreation centre for employees and the people of the town. It was also intended as a memorial to employees who died in WWI. During its construction a Stone Age axe head was discovered!
