About this trail

Welcome to the Markinch Town Trail Quiz

Back in the 1100s Markinch or Dalginch was the legal and administrative centre of Fife, ruled over by the Earls of Fife.

The town was once the centre for commerce, trade, entertainment and worship for miles around. Over the years Markinch has changed with the times, with old businesses and industries disappearing and new ones springing up, but there are reminders of its past all around the town.

Follow the trail to learn about Markinch’s fascinating history and see if you can answer the clues as you go round.

This trail was created by the Markinch Heritage Group who have several other walks to help you explore the town and the area round about.
