Burntisland has a long maritime history and was once one of the most important harbours on Scotland’s east coast.
The harbour dates to 1540, when James V improved and named it “Our Lady Port”.
It later became:
The shipyard built 310 ships between 1918 and 1969.
More recently, the docks supported oil industry construction and are now part of the Forth Green Freeport.
