About Point 4

Another unusual building, this was built by Rev. George Hay Forbes, a distinguished scholar and prolific publisher.

He planned an ambitious Episcopal church complex in East Leven Street, including a home, school and a grand church that would have dwarfed many cathedrals.

The home and working premises were completed in 1854. Forbes also built the school (now the pipe band hall), but the church was never completed after his death in 1875.

Walk a short distance along East Leven Street to the next stop.
