This lovely green space was gifted to the people of Burntisland by King James V.
Over the centuries, The Links have had many uses — from drying fishing nets and clothes, to grazing livestock, to recreation. They have been used for golf since 1668 and were home to Burntisland Golf Club, founded in 1797 (the 11th oldest in Scotland).
One of the highlights of the year is the Highland Games in July, held on The Links. The games date back to 1652, with a horse race during Oliver Cromwell’s occupation of the town.
The Links and surrounding area are now a conservation area.
