The Fife Pilgrim Way is a 64-mile route which connects the West and East of Fife. The Way follows one of the ancient routes which would have been taken by pilgrims on their way to St Andrews which for 400 years was one of the main pilgrimage destinations in Medieval Europe.
The route has two stating points to choose from in the west of the Kingdom – Culross and North Queensferry – and both bring you to Dunfermline which was also a popular destination visit where pilgrims would visit St Margaret’s shrine within the abbey.
From here you have a choice of routes to our next stop at Dunfermline Public Park. Turn left and head to the Maygate. Here you can continue up the Kirkgate to High Street, where you will turn right and follow all the way along the High Street and East Port to the park entrance beside the Carnegie Hall ///indeed.gives.ample.
Or you can continue along the Maygate, then on to Canmore Street, then turn left up the New Row to join the High Street and join the route above on the East Port.
